- I started this blog as a training exercise for Harris County Public Library's iHCPL 23 Things, a wonderful learning experience for the not-so-Web-savvy that's now available to the public at our Web site, www.hcpl.net. I work at the Kingwood Branch Library, a job I love, but in another life I wrote 20 contemporary category romance novels under my pseudonym, Nikki Benjamin. I've also worked as a reporter, feature writer and photographer for the Observer Newspapers and as a feature writer, photographer and - surprise, surprise - a graphic artist at the Tribune Newspapers. I've always loved to read, and I've written a lot, only not much lately. Now that I'm once again in writer mode, I thought it would be fun to try my hand at personal essays - positive upbeat fun stuff, including my thoughts on books, movies and music I've enjoyed.
